SET ROLLS OUT TRAINING PLAN FOR MEKONG REGION
The Stock Exchange of Thailand has initiated an exclusive training programme for executives in the Greater Mekong Subregion capital markets, the CMA GMS Programme, to update information and exchange views and experiences.
The programme will be held at the SET’s Capital Market Academy in Bangkok from tomorrow until April 12.
SET chairman Sathit Limpongpan said the programme would help enhance practical knowledge among capital-market executives in response to the dynamic economic and social growth among GMS countries, resulting in both direct and indirect investment in the region.
SET president Kesara Manchusree said more than 100 Thai listed firms were operating businesses in the GMS, with plenty of opportunities to expand the market and benefit from the region. Therefore, leaders and decision-makers in this region should enhance their capabilities, creativity and regional connections to make the GMS’s prosperity sustainable.
She said this programme was another first for the SET as it works to build strong collaboration among the GMS exchanges.
The CMA GMS Programme will be joined by executives from both the private and public sectors involved in the sub-region’s capital markets, as well as academic staff and media, for a total of about 50 participants.
The GMS consists of Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, and China’s southern provinces of Yunnan and Guangxi. The sessions are scheduled every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for three weeks starting tomorrow.
