Bangkok No 4 among top Asian destinations, TripAdvisor says
Bangkok is among travellers' top 10 destination choices in Asia, though failing to make it to the top 10 list in the world, according to a survey by TripAdvisor.com.
The online travel site said that on the list of top destinations in Asia, Bangkok’s ranking went up one place from last year, and was now in fourth place. Places to be discovered in the city include the Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Pho) and Chatuchak Weekend Market.
The others in the top five are Siem Reap in Cambodia, Hanoi in Vietnam, Ubud in Indonesia and Kathmandu in Nepal.
Also listed in the top 10 are Hong Kong, Hoi An, Denpasar and Seminyak in Indonesia, and Beijing.
The global survey is based on millions of reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor travellers.
Southeast Asian destinations make up almost half of the Asia list, taking 13 of the 25 winning destinations.
Siem Reap, Cambodia, took the top spot, and was also named second in the world, after Marrakech, Morocco.
