After leaving production house JSL Global Media’s subsidiary Content Lab, Noppakorn Thongman decided to establish his own TV production company, Entertainment Lab. The newly formed firm will work with other Thai production companies and broadcasters to develop and create TV formats to serve both domestic and international audiences.
“Judging from my experience, I strongly believe in Thai talent in TV production. This is the right time to bring Thai talent together to co-create Thai content and intellectual property for export to the world,” Noppakorn said yesterday.
He said Entertainment Lab wanted to be a “strategic content business partner” with domestic broadcasters as well as seeking clients overseas.
While attending the “Format Asia” event in China’s commercial capital Shanghai, Noppakorn took the opportunity to introduce his new company to the participants. He also established a Vietnamese affiliate, Entertainment Lab VN, during VTV’s “Telefilm” event in Ho Chi Minh City.
In the initial stage, the company will concentrate its efforts on Thai broadcasters and content-production houses as the first priority. The company is working with MCOT, operator of MCOT HD and MCOT Family digital channels, and GMM Grammy, which runs GMM 25 and One Channel.
Noppakorn said his company was also in talks with other digital-TV broadcasters and expected to seal some contracts soon.
For content production, Entertainment Lab has partnered with TV Burabha, Rak Luk Group, Hercules and Doctor Variety.
For the remaining months of the year, the company has set a conservative revenue target of Bt40 million, mainly from domestic business. In the next three years, it aims to develop its own TV formats and distribute them to overseas markets through its regional network.
