The announcement by broadband service provider United Information Highway (UIH), data-centre service provider TCC Technology Company and data-centre operator 1-Net Singapore was in response to the government’s policy to encourage private operators to provide data-centre services.
They have jointly submitted their written expression of interest to the Electronic Government Agency.
Vichai Bencharongkul, executive chairman of UIH, said the partnership aimed to combine the three companies’ strengths for the delivery of premium data-centre services as a one-stop solution.
He said the data-centre project was a fundamental part of the government’s “digital economy” policy because it will stimulate the use of information and communication technology as well as the introduction of new platforms and services across the public and business sectors. “It’s time that every organisation pays significant attention to the leveraging of digital technologies for work-efficiency maximisation. Such a move will increase Thailand’s competitiveness. It will also pave the way for the country to become not just an Asean leader in the digital-economy era but also Asean’s leading data-centre service provider,” Vichai said.
