AirAsia's Bangalore bound

AIRASIA is adding a direct flight to India, from Bangkok to Bangalore in the southern part of the country, beginning September 1.

Tassapon Bijleveld, chief executive officer of the budget airline, said recently that in the past AirAsia served several cities in India prior to opening up China. However, AirAsia had to suspend the flights three to four years ago, with the exception of Chennai in the eastern part, as the timing was not ripe.
Bangalore is India’s fifth-largest city with the third-largest population and a rapid growing economy.
It is often referred to as the Silicon Valley of India, as it is the centre of information technology, software companies, and science and technology educational institutions.
Almost a million tourists from Bangalore visited Thailand via Chennai.
Indian tourists would like to see routes to Phuket, Krabi and Macao, which leads to China, as well as Singapore.
Thai beaches are attractive and many Indians like to hold wedding functions at resorts and hotels near the beaches.
The five direct flights per week to Bangalore will also benefit the 500-600 Thai students registered with the Thai Embassy in India.
