Major in deal for cinema complex in Vientiane

THE LAOS World Trade Centre (WTC) and Thailand's Major Cineplex Group have signed a cooperation agreement to open a new cinema complex, offering new entertainment possibilities to the residents of Vientiane.

Justin Chen, WTC chief executive officer, and Thanakorn Puriwakin, director and chief films officer of Major Cineplex, took part in the signing ceremony in Bangkok on July 24.
After signing the agreement, Chen said the opening of the cinema complex would make a significant contribution to the Laotian cinematic culture and connect it with the world.
“The WTC project is located in the core area of Vientiane, near the city’s [central] avenue,” he said. “Our project includes an international shopping mall, a boutique shopping street, a five-star hotel, a 5A office building, a high-end business hotel and apartments.
“We not only intend to build an international commercial and tourist centre in Vientiane but also to build Laos as an international image-exhibition centre.
“We help to promote the city’s development and devote ourselves to updating public services and city facilities. Our project will become a new fascinating centre for entertainment and business in Vientiane.” Major Cineplex, the biggest cinema company in Thailand, owns 70 per cent of box-office revenues in the Kingdom.
