The Bt2.7-trillion fiscal 2015-16 budget yesterday passed its second and third readings at the National Legislative Assembly.

Bid documents available

Interested companies can pick up bid documents for 1,800-megahertz licences from today until September 28.

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission has prepared 20 sets. The companies can submit their application on September 30 with a Bt500,000 fee and pay 5 per cent of the minimum licence price as a guarantee.

The three major telecoms – Advanced Info Service, Total Access Communication (DTAC) and True Corp – are expected to pick up a set today. The NBTC plans to auction two licences with 15MHz bandwidth each. The minimum starting offer is set at Bt15.91 billion.

However, if CAT Telecom and DTAC fail to hand over 5MHz of bandwidth on schedule to the NBTC, it will go back to the original plan of auctioning two licences with 12.5MHz each at a minimum starting offer of Bt13.26 billion.
