Surapong Techaruvichit, president of the Thai Hotels Association, said the operator(s) of the Pangsawan Place Hotel was charged by the Department of Provincial of Administration yesterday.
It is allegedly one of the nine hotels since last year found to be operating without a licence.
The other hotels are also in tourist destinations and continue to operate despite being ordered to get licensed or close their doors.
Sanchai Tanghor, director for investigations at the Department of Provincial of Administration, said the hotels did not comply with industry standards and that may result in a substandard service and hazardous conditions for guests.
This could damage the entire hospitality and tourism industry, Sanchai said.
The other illegal hotels are in Ayutthaya, Mukdahan, Krabi, Nakhon Phanom, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Kanchanaburi.
