GSB CENTRE RAISES YEAR’S GROWTH FORECAST TO 3.2%

Thailand’s 2016 economic growth forecast was raised to 3.2 per cent from 3.1 per cent on improvements in private consumption, public consumption and public |investment in projects as targeted, according to the Government Savings Bank’s Grass-roots Economic Research Centre.
Chatchai Payuhanaveechai, president of GSB, said yesterday that the latter half of this year’s growth is projected at 3.1 per cent on gradual improvement of household purchasing power, boom in tourism and consistent expansion of the government’s investment and spending.
However, exports continued slowing down on the deceleration in trading partners, he said.
The next US president Donald Trump’s policies are expected to affect international trade and finance to a certain extent.
