SERVICE PAYMENTS TO BE ADDED TO PRICE CONTROL LIST

Service payments for online deliveries and over-the-counter bill payments will be added to the Commerce Ministry’s price control list soon in order to protect consumers.
Deputy Commerce Minister Sontirat Sontijira-wong said the ministry would propose the addition of the two services, reflecting the need for fair treatment with the growth in these services.
So far, 45 goods and services have been placed on the ministry’s price control list. Of these, 42 items are goods such as milk, cooking oil and rice; the other three are services.
The minister said that rises in oil prices and the minimum wage should not cause significantly higher goods prices, suggesting price rises of only Bt0.01 to Bt0.08 per item.
Prices for cooked food would rise the most, but by only Bt0.2 per item. Enterprises should limit any increases in the cost of goods and services this year, the minister said.—The Nation
