Somchai Sittichaisrichart, managing director ofa SIS Distribution (Thailand), said the company would market data-centre equipment. It will also set up an IoT department to create awareness among potential customers and provide smart solutions for their homes and offices.
“IoT is a new business category for us, which has high potential for growth in the near future,” Somchai said.
He said that in the current quarter the corporate market would continue to be a growth engine for his firm as businesses were still looking for new technology. Meanwhile, sales growth in the consumer market has been flat since the economy slowed.
He also said the total information-technology market in the first quarter of this year had declined, especially among consumers, again because of the sluggish economy. However, demand was set to grow in |the corporate market thanks to government policies and tax incentives encouraging com-panies to invest in new tech-nology to increase their productivity.
Somchai said his company this year expected to generate revenue of Bt18 billion, about the same as last year. The business market will contribute 60 per cent of its revenue and the consumer market the rest.
