Thaicom unveils new RAN optimiser series

Satellite operator Thaicom on Tuesday announced the introduction of a series of radio access network (RAN) optimisers that it says allows satellite service providers to cost-effectively optimise high-throughout 4G/LTE (long-term evolution technology) data and voice traffic to unserved and underserved areas using a single-box solution.

Thaicom is one of the leading providers of cellular backhaul over satellite service to mobile network operators (MNOs) in Asia Pacific.
With the introduction of the RAN optimisers NITRO30 and NITRO100, Thaicom is rounding out its end-to-end cellular backhaul service portfolio.
Patompob Suwansiri, chief commercial officer of Thaicom, said that cellular backhaul has been a market of high growth for Thaicom customers across Asia Pacific.
The CCO said the company’s IPSTAR broadband satellite system in combination with its customised solutions on an end-to-end basis has allowed cellular operators expand their service coverage area and increase subscribers cost-effectively in the past.
The NITRO30 is available now, while the NITRO100 will be available in the third quarter.
