RS expects 600% surge in health business

RS says its television Channel 8 is expected to reach No 4 in the ratings by the end of the year, while its LifeStar health-and-beauty business will have grown by 600 per cent compared to last year, boosting the company’s strength and stability.

Chief executive Surachai Chetchotisak said Channel 8 was expected to have 500,000 viewers per minute by the end of this year and LifeStar generating Bt1.2 billion in revenue.
“This makes media and health-and-beauty the core businesses of the company, and the fundamental elements of the company will change significantly, while the performance will be stronger and more stable,” he said in a press release on Tuesday.
“Growth in our health-and-beauty business will make it nearly as big as our media business in 2018. The company is now expanding in health and beauty to cater to the fast growth, focusing on developing products that meet the needs of the consumers.”
RS will meanwhile use its media outlets to reach customers efficiently and improve its telesales channels in terms of quality and quantity. “It will also branch out to modern trade channels, especially online,” Surachai said.
At the same time, it is looking for partners to expand into the CLMV countries (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam). It is in talks with partners in Myanmar to expand there and the business is expected to take off in 2018, he said.
