SET COMPANIES REPORT FALLING PROFITS

Listed companies have announced net profits of Bt221.6 billion for the second quarter of this year, equal to an 11 per cent drop from the same period last year and a 23.2 per cent fall from the first quarter of 2017, Asia Plus Securities reported yesterday.
Altogether, 144 listed firms that announced their financial results for the second quarter of this year showed a net loss, the research said.
Combined with the net profits of Bt285 billion in the first quarter of this year, listed firms are therefore showing half-year net profits of Bt500 billion, equal to about half of the predicted net profits of Bt990 for calendar year 2017, the Asia Plus report said.
