Pimpawee Nopakitgumjorn, director for market management in Thailand at Expedia Lodging Partner Services, part of the Expedia group, said that her goal is to educate hotel partners about the resources that are available to help them optimise their revenue.
The 38-year-old executive added that the company’s data and analytics enables hoteliers to make value-based decisions. Expedia PartnerCentral (EPC) – the portal for hotels to access real-ime intelligence – helps its hotel partners make strategic business decisions, she added.
The Expedia market management team, which she leads, works with hotel partners every day and gives taiฌlored advice to help them achieve their business goals.
Having been with Expedia for the past 10 years, Pimpawee has a wealth of experience and deep insight in the Thai and Lao markets. She currently leads a dedicated team of 55 members, including market managers in prioritising opportunities for revenue growth, and oversees the execution of strategic Expedia initiatives both internally and externally with over 8,000 hotels. Previously, she held roles with Agoda Services in Thailand.
Asked what attracted her to the online travel industry, she said: “Travel is my passion. Making dream vacations possible for millions of travellers and families around the world gives me the wonderful feeling of bringing the world together.”
Pimpawee holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Thammasat University and has an MBA majoring in international business from the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA).
Her diverse education background has provided her with a lot of insight into many facets of the industry.
“Many people get very focused in their studies and can get a very one-dimensional way of thinking. Business people often think differently than engineers would, and I think having a mixed background has given me an advantage to look at things differently than some others in my field might,” she said.
Working in a giant international organisation such as Expedia is also challenging.
It is important for her to be accepted and recognised in the field of work, and to be able to eliminate any doubts that people may have about her.
“In addition, the world is constantฌly changing at a lightning pace – given how much time people spend online. It is highly important to understand and change our mindsets to adapt with the present world. As this is an online agency, it is my duty to be constantly on my toes and keep uptodate with digital trends, challenges that hoteliers face, and help them navigate through the changing consumer landscape.”
Thanks to her diverse educational background, she has met many people from various industries. This has helped her understand how different people think and work, allowing her to adapt easily to various situations or environments.
“At Expedia, I have had the opportunity to engage in crossborder collaboration on different projects, working closely with my colleagues from US to Asia to Europe to participate in and kickstart different initiatives.
“Importantly, through these engagements, my ability to bring forth my Asia perspective has resulted in outcomes that are desireable for the audience in this region. Even though the organisation is based in the US, we are hyperlocal and this is something that I am very proud of,” she said.
