Boost for trade across borders

Thailand’s border trade rose 5.51 per cent to Bt618.35 billion for the first seven months of this year, led by the country’s border trade with Malaysia, Laos and Myanmar, respectively, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

Apiradi Tantraporn, Commerce Minister, said that of the total border trade, exports amounted to Bt381.68 billion, up 9.25 per cent from the same period last year, and imports accounted for Bt236.67 billion, down 0.02 per cent.
Thailand’s border trade was in a surplus of Bt145.01 billion.
