AirAsia’s Thai carriers plan 53 routes to 46 cities for high season

Thai AirAsia and Thai AirAsia X will resume temporarily suspended international services and increase flight frequencies in the fourth quarter of 2026, offering direct flights to as many as 46 cities across 53 routes to meet year-end travel demand.

Tansita Akrarittipirom, head of commercial at Thai AirAsia, said the airlines were preparing for the October-December high season after reducing frequencies and temporarily suspending some routes during the third quarter. Those adjustments reflected travel demand and rising fuel prices, helping to keep operating costs under control.

With travellers returning during the peak season, the airlines are preparing to restore suspended services and gradually increase frequencies on popular routes.

“We are confident that travel will pick up again this high season, with both Thais travelling abroad and foreign tourists visiting Thailand,” Tansita said.

Thai AirAsia restores six India routes

Thai AirAsia, which operates under flight code FD, will resume six temporarily suspended routes to India. It will also restore flights between Don Mueang and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and between its Phuket base and Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Tansita said international visitors arriving in Thailand would be able to connect conveniently to domestic destinations through the airline’s network, which she described as offering the country’s widest coverage and highest flight frequencies.

Thai AirAsia X increases Japan services

Thai AirAsia X, operating under flight code XJ, will serve four Japanese cities directly from Don Mueang, with combined frequencies reaching up to 46 flights a week once Sapporo services increase in December.

Tokyo will receive up to 21 flights a week and Osaka up to 14. Sapporo services will resume on October 1 with up to four flights a week, increasing to a maximum of seven from December 1, 2026. Nagoya flights will resume on October 2, operating four times a week.

The airline will also operate four weekly flights to Delhi, India, and four to Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Network spans four Asian regions

AirAsia said the two carriers’ combined winter 2026 schedule from Don Mueang would cover 53 routes to 46 cities. These comprise 17 cities in East Asia, including destinations in China, Japan, Taiwan and Macau; 15 in Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia and Laos; 13 in South Asia, including India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives; and one in Central Asia, in Kazakhstan.
