Jewellery institute aims to turn Thailand into global hub

The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT) is planning to participate in seven major projects starting next year, in an effort to turn Thailand into a global jewellery hub.
GIT director Duangkamol Jiambutr said the institute is confident of achieving its goal of making Thailand a global jewellery hub by 2021.
“We will concentrate on raising the potential of the industry and create new markets, as well as [develop] the image of Thailand as a global production centre in order to give confidence to customers,” she said.
“We also work to promote modern sales marketing such as online sales, and raise capabilities in terms of research and innovations. We want to be a professional central organisation that coordinates between the government and private sectors both in the country and overseas.”
