DTAC staff face “40-Hour Challenge”

TOTAL Access Communication (DTAC) has issued a “40-Hour-Challenge” to all its over 4,000 employees to encourage them to grow their digital skills and complete a 40-hour online digital training this year.

The programme will officially start next month.
“The scale of this programme is beyond anything we've done in the past. By the end of this year, the programme would have recorded more than 100,000 hours of training across the organisation,” DTAC chief people officer Nardrerdee Arj-harnwongse said yesterday.
The move is part of DTAC's continued efforts to achieve its goal of becoming the leading digital organisation in Thailand by 2020.
Late last year, the company disclosed that it will need to recruit more than 200 digital talents until 2020 as the company pursues its goal of becoming the leading digital organisation by 2020.
In this “40-Hour-Challenge”, there are over 10,000 courses available for the DTAC employees to select from according to their preference. The courses are provided by DTAC, in partnership with Lynda.com, Coursera, and DTAC's foreign strategic partner Telenor.
The 40-Hour Challenge is aimed to boost and re-train both hard digital skills and soft digital skills of the employees. The classes are offered in an always-on, mobile-ready format so that it’s possible to study anywhere, anytime, Nardrerdee added.
“You can’t tell employees they need to be digital and then not meet their needs online,” Nardrerdee.
“Our training allows for a bottom-up approach where employees and their managers can curate what knowledge meets their team’s exact needs. And it’s not just about the content. Our training is designed from the ground up to be a rewarding digital experience,” she said.
