SEC to hold hearings on digital asset businesses soon
Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is expected to hold a hearing on its rules for security token offerings of digital assets in the next month or two, said Pariya Techamuanvivit, SEC’s director for corporate communications and investor services department.
Some 20 companies have applied for a licence with the SEC to operate businesses concerning digital assets. Of the 20 firms, 10 have already obtained licences – four for operating digital asset exchange, two for digital asset broking, one to become a digital asset deal and three to become initial coin offering (ICO) portal service providers.
The ICO portal service provider acts as a financial adviser to companies planning to launch an ICO. Its role is to examine the purpose of the ICO launch and business plans of the companies planning to offer the ICO.
