As the world marks International Literacy Day on Wednesday, around 6 million children in Yemen, which has a population of 30 million, are facing the risk of education disruption.

Around 2 million girls and boys have already been forced out of school due to the civil war and economic crisis.

The International Literacy Day declared by UNESCO is observed each year on Sept. 8.
