Body of woman found in Chao Pharaya river

Pathum Thani police yesterday retrieved the bruised body of a woman aged around 20to 25 with blond hair, blue eyes and a dragon tattoo on her the back from the Chao Phraya river in what they believe is a murder case.

An iron transport barge crew alerted police at about 8am that they had found a canvas car cover with a body inside, as it floated in the river and then became entangled with the barge at a local pier. Inside the canvas cover, police also found rocks packed inside a fertiliser sack, which were used, they believed, to sink the body and keep it on the riverbed.
The woman, whose wrists and ankles had been tied with cable, was covered with two towels, which police suspected belong to a hotel in an upstream province, possibly Ayutthaya or Angthong, and would use them to investigate the identity the victim. The body was sent for autopsy.
Sam Khok superintendent Pol Col Sommai Naksimok said that police suspected the woman, about 150cm tall, was a Thai working girl or salon employee. She appeared to have been killed by blunt force trauma to the head and her body dumped in the river, weighted down by rocks, about a week ago.
