Top crime buster seconded as anti-narcotics chief

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Tuesday confirmed the reshuffle at the Justice Ministry, including the secondment of a top crime buster to head the Office of the Narcotics Control Board.

The new ONCB line-up was in line the government's policy to crackdown on illicit drugs, she said.

Deputy national police chief General Adul Saengsingkaew said he would be seconded as secretary general of the ONCB for a one-year term, effective as of October 1, to spearhead the war on drugs.

Adul said he was recruited for the job by Justice Minister Pracha Promnok. He is expected to devote full attention to his work at the ONCB although he will remain in the police service.

Under the Cabinet resolution, incumbent ONCB secretary general Sureeprapha Trivej is slated to become deputy permanent secretary for Justice, paving way for Adul to replace her.
