Daily minimum wage expected to be hiked to Bt300 before yearend

The Labour Ministry has expected to push the daily minimum wage to Bt300 before the end of next year.

A significant raise, or about 40-per cent hike, would likely take effect first from January 1 onward, the ministry's permanent secretary Somkiat Chayasriwong said Tuesday.

"It's the government policy," he said, "If necessary, the issue may have to be resolved via the vote at the tripartite Central Wage Committee".
