Cabinet approves rehabilitation panels

The Cabinet yesterday approved the Industry Ministry's proposal to establish three committees to help with rehabilitation efforts in the aftermath of the floods.

Industry Minister Wannarat Charnnukul said the panel to rehabilitate the economy would be led by Deputy PM and Commerce Minister Kittiratt na Ranong, while the panel overseeing the restoration of infrastructure would be led by Transport Minister ACM Sukampol Suwannathat. Deputy Prime Minister Pol General Kowit Wattana would lead the panel looking into social issues.

Wannarat said he expected Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to put her signature to the establishment of one of these panels today.

“The panels need to come up with remedial action soon,” he said.
