Put populist scheme funds toward recovery: Abhisit

Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva yesterday called on the government to reallocate funds earmarked for populist policies to the flood recovery effort.
“Before thinking about borrowing foreign loans, the government should curb unnecessary spending such as on the firstcar policy,” he said.
Abhisit was reacting to news reports that the government is considering taking out foreign loans to finance rebuilding of floodhit areas and businesses.
