Ban Khai residents sue IEAT

Villagers from Ban Khai district, Rayong, today filed a petition against the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand over its endorsement for Rayong (Ban Khai) Industrial Estate.
They said in the petition that the industrial estate affects the local residents' rights, freedom and dignity, in violation of the Constitution Articles 66 and 67.
Srettha Pitutecha, leader of the Ban Khai residents, and Eastern People's Network coordinator Suthi Atchasai led a group of 20 villagers to file the complaint at the Rayong Administrative Court. They were assisted by Srisuwan Janya, president of Stop Global Warming Association.
They asked for the court's order to have the industrial estate construction cancelled and the court's injunction pending for the ruling.
