One road in east Bangkok to be used to divert water on trial basis

A section of a road in eastern Bangkok will be demolished to divert northern floodwater to drain into the sea via Samut Prakan, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said on Friday.

The demolition would be done on a trial basis to observe the extent this would help speed up the drainage, Yingluck said.
She said she did not remember which of the five roads in eastern Bangkok would be targetted.
The prime minister was speaking before noon while on an inspection trip in Pathum Thani. She was then scheduled to take a helicopter for an aerial survey of the Lop Buri inundation in order to assess the impacts on the Bangkok flooding.
