Somphon Kongvattanakul, former president of the Old Japan Students' Association, Thailand (OJSAT), has been awarded "The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette" by the government of Japan.
In the announcement on November 3, Somphon was recognised for his valuable contribution in promoting friendly relations and mutual understanding between Japan and the Kingdom of Thailand through Japanese cultural events and Japanese language education.
The award is a part of the 2011 Autumn conferment of decorations on foreign nationals for their outstanding contributions in their respective areas.
