One killed, another injured in Yala blast

One soldier was killed and another wounded after they stepped on a bomb believed to have been planted by insurgents on Thursday in Yala's Than Tho district.

Private Kriengkrai Promfai, 22, lost his life and Private Siam sae Lao was badly injured while they were patrolling a road in tambon Banlae.
Police believe the bomb was hidden inside a metal box, the debris of which was found on the site.
Meanwhile, the owner of a restaurant in the area complained that her business was being badly affected by the zoning laws and the traffic changes introduced to prevent insurgents’ activities.
Prapai Lao said that after a series of insurgent attacks in Yala in October, the authorities had only left five entrances to the market open.
“Before I used to earn about Bt10,000 a day, but now I only get Bt1,000 a day,” she said, adding that she did not want the security measures revoked, but hoped they would be adjusted so people could visit the market more easily.
