As many as 500 volunteers, consisting of RMUTL’s executives, lecturers, officers and students, will give a hand to people in urban, farm and industrial areas.
Handicrafts are one of the flood rehabilitation projects. The university will teach people how to make objects like clay dolls and New Year cards. Then, RMUTL will buy their products and keep them as its New Year’s gifts. About 20,000 households are expected to earn Bt300 per day on average from this project. The second project is fixing damaged residences, buildings, vehicles, farm equipment and electric appliances. There will be six mobile repair centres in one province.
The third project is agricultural and industrial recovery. RMUTL will provide seeds of 12 varieties for 100,000 families to plant.
It will survey livestock breeders on what they need and provide them assistance. It will pass on knowledge and technology to farmers on how to cultivate rice effectively.
And, students are on standby to help operators restore their flooded factories. Any operator needing help can contact the university. About 10 have already contacted the university for help.
