Third autopsy finds Chutidej shot in mouth

A third autopsy has confirmed that an aide to former Democrat Party candidate Thaenkhun Jitissara was shot in the mouth, further contradicting early reports that the victim was shot in the back of the head.

Speaking yesterday after learning of the autopsy results from Ramathibodi Hospital’s Forensics Department, Thaenkhun said the three shots fired at the mouth of Chutidej Suwannakerd represented a message from those behind the killing that they wanted to silence the victim, who he said had exposed gambling dens in the Don Muang area.
Two earlier autopsies by civilian and police forensic agencies found that the victim took three shots in the mouth, and two shots in the body. Thaenkhun has not explicitly said who claimed Chutidej had been shot in the back of the head.
Thaenkhun lost the race for the MP seat in Bangkok’s Don Muang constituency in the last general election. Chutidej had worked as an aide to a political rival to Thaenkhun before defecting to Thaenkhun’s camp.
Citing Chutidej’s information, Thaenkhun said there were around 10 fixed gambling dens and many mobile venues operating in Don Muang. He called on Rak Prathet Thai Party leader Chuvit Kamolvisit, known for his crusade against vice, to help expose these dens.
