Blueprint for charter change not ready: Philaphan

The Pheu Thai Party is not ready to sponsor the charter amendments until later this month, party's MP Philaphan Phalusuk said on Wednesday.

“The Pheu Thai draft to pave way for the charter rewrite has yet to be finalised,” he said.
Philaphan said his main coalition party will push for the charter rewrite without any linkage to amending Article 112 of the Criminal Code, a key clause on the lese majeste law.
He reiterated his party’s position to seek the formation of the Constitution Drafting Assembly to take charge of the rewriting process.
Following his return from a meeting with former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra in Dubai, he said Thaksin agreed with the idea on the CDA although the details have yet to be finalised.
Regarding the push by the red shirts to amend the charter, he said the move was separate from that of the party’s.
Some 12 Pheu Thai MPs travelled to Dubai last week to met with Thaksin. Their talking points included the charter change. Thaksin reportedly opposed any attempts to amend Article 112.
