Chief opposition whip Jurin Laksanavisit, from the Democrat Party, told a press conference at the Parliament building that it was because the government failed to comply with the agreement reached at the recent tri-partite whips meetings.
For instance, he said, a similar meeting reached an agreement on the framework for the recent parliamentary debate on the government’s four executive decrees for post-flood borrowing of Bt350 billion. However, Jurin said, the agreement – particularly the part involving the time allocated to opposition MPs– were ignored by government MPs who took the advantage of their majority in voting for the debate to end early, preventing many opposition MPs from debating.
