Cabinet approves Bt1.4 billion for buying excessive 200,000 tons of pineapples

The Cabinet Monday approved Bt1.4 billion from the central emergency fund for buying excessive 200,000 tons of pineapples from farmers, a government spokesman said.
Deputy Government Spokesman Phakdee Harnhimathongkham said provincial committees in charge of solving the problems related to agricultural products would buy pineapples from farmers at the rate of Bt4 per kilogram.
The pineapples would be used to make animal feds, organic fertilizers and caned pineapples.
The Cabinet also resolved to extend the soft loan period for operators of pineapple processing factories for three more months.
