World's first pregnant man Thomas Beatie separates from wife

Los Angeles - Thomas Beatie, who became the world's first pregnant man in 2007 after undergoing a sex-change operation, has separated from his wife Nancy, it was reported Friday.

Beatie, 38, who has since given birth to two more children, revealed the breakdown of his marriage while taping a syndicated TV show The Doctors, People.com reported.
"Like all marriages, we have our ups and downs, and we're going through a rough patch right now. At the moment, we're separated," he said.
Beatie was once a woman but kept his reproductive organs when he underwent sex-change hormonal therapy and had his breasts removed some years ago. After marrying his wife, Nancy, the couple realized that she could not bear children and so he decided to carry the chldren. His first pregnancy was in 2007.
Beatie also revealed that he had undergone his final gender reassignment from female to male completing a process that began when he was 24 with testosterone injections.
The couple have been married since 2003.//DPA
