Budget debate to take three days

The House will on May 21 begin the deliberation of the 2013 Budget Bill and the televised debate is expected to last three days, coalition chief whip Udomdej Rattanasatien said on Friday.

“Coalition and opposition whips have reached an agreement on the scheduling of the debate,” he said.

Udomdej said the debate on the first two days will be from 9.30 am to 9.30 pm. The third and final day will wrap up the debate before casting the vote on the first reading of the bill and setting up the committee to vet the spending plans, he added.
The coalition and opposition will each have about 13 hours to speak on the floor. The prime minister and the opposition leader both can take part in the debate without time constraints.
