Acid-attack victim talks to police

Police yesterday questioned one of the victims of a series of suspected acid attacks in Bangkok.

A 36-year-old woman, whose name has been withheld, met with investigators at the Bang Sue police station.
She told police that at about 7.30pm on May 31, she was crossing a pedestrian bridge in the Saphan Kwai area when she felt some liquid on her neck and arm. She was told by a doctor she had suffered a “chemical burn” that could have been caused by acid or another chemical solution.
Pol Colonel Charoen Srisasalak, deputy commander of Metropolitan Police Bureau 2,  said an initial investigation found that five people were targeted in four separate acid attacks between May 11 and June 4. The incidents took place in the Saphan Kwai, Suthisan, Lat Phrao and Ratchaprasong areas.
