Abhisit defends Kasit's appointment as foreign minister

Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva Thursday stepped forward to defend his decision on the Kasit Piromya appointment in 2008, arguing Kasit had not been indicted in connection with the street protests led by the People's Alliance for Democracy.
Abhisit said the Kasit case should not be compared to the appointment of Natthawut Saikua in the position of deputy agriculture minister.
When Kasit was named the foreign minister, he did not face any charges, he said, pointing out that before assuming office in January, Natthawut was already fighting myriad charges related to the red-shirt protests in 2010.
