Bank of England pumps more money into the economy

London - The Bank of England (BoE) Thursday injected a further 50 billion pounds (78 billion dollars) into the economy underits quantitative easing programme.

 

The programme, under which the bank purchases government assets, now stands at a total of 375 billion pounds.
 
The bank decided to leave interest rates unchanged at 0.5 per cent, according to an announcement which followed a meeting of the bank's monetary policy committee.//DPA
