The mobile Cabinet meeting in Surin yesterday approved Bt40 billion to launch the Education Ministry's "Fund for Selfmade Entrepreneurs".

“The fund will provide startup capital for those who want to open their own business,” government spokeswoman Sansanee Nakpong said. The revolving fund will offer soft loans to vocational and higher education students as well as those who graduated during the past five years, she said.
The Bt40billion budget will support the fund for four fiscal years – Bt5 billion in 2013, Bt5 billion in 2014, Bt10 billion in 2015 and Bt20 billion in 2016.
The prime minister would head the fund’s policy committee while its management office would be set up under the Higher Education Commission.
“Each participating educational institution will get up to Bt1 billion to train and select students or graduates with potential to become successful entrepreneurs,” she said.
Foreign research showed that such a scheme would create a new generation of quality entrepreneurs for the country, she added.
