Police to question volunteer injured in bomb blast

Police are to interrogate a village volunteer, who lost an arm in a bomb explosion in Narathiwat's Sukhirin district on Monday.

Pol Col Jongjairak Kongpao, a district police chief, said police wished to know all the details of the explosion from Abdul Tolae Sukoh, 22, a village volunteer from the district’s Tambon Romsai.
Abdul lost his right arm when a bomb exploded in a roadside waterway in the district on Monday morning. He is now being treated at Narathiwat Rachanakarin Hospital in the province.
Jongjairak said evidence collected at the scene included pieces of home-made bomb in a fish can as well as part’s of the victim’s arm.
He said the interrogation was required to discover why the bomb was by the road. A home-made bomb would have to be triggered, so if the victim found the bomb, he should have alerted police, not trigger it. “It is possible that Abdul may have triggered the bomb and was about to throw at a passer by. The bomb exploded possibly because of its short fuse.
