Budget bill to be deliberated in second reading next week

The House will deliberate the budget bill in the second and third readings next week, chief coalition whip Udomdej Ratanasathien said Monday.

Udomdej said the coalition coordination committee on parliamentary affairs has agreed on a framework for debating the 2013 budget bill in the second reading.
Udomdej said the debate would last about 40 hours and would be broadcast live on NBT Channel.
He added that the coalition whips would hold a meeting with their opposition counterparts to agree on the time sharing during the debate.
Udomdej said the opposition would have to wait about a month following the passage of the budget bill before it could hold a noconfidence debate.
As part of the planned censure debate, the opposition has threatened to attack the government for fulfilling only one of its 16 policies.
Udomdej said the Cabinet members concerned would be ready to defend themselves by disputing the opposition’s charges during the censure showdown.
