Thailand raises IP protection

Commerce Ministry is teaming up with the Civil Aviation Department, to put a brake on fake item purchases among Thai travellers.

Passengers would be warned over the carrying of counterfeit goods into the Kingdom, said Intellectual Property Department director-general Pachima Thanasanti.
To enchance Thailand's intellectual property protection, the department is also pushing for amendments in the laws governing the Customs Department and ICT Ministry. While the Customs Department should be empowered to seize banned products at port, the ICT Ministry should be able to shut down internet websites that offer counterfeit goods.
