The list of annual military reshuffle has already been submitted for royal endorsement, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said Tuesday.
“Upon the completion of name and rank checks, I signed to approve the reshuffle list,” Yingluck said, ending speculation that the government might review the dispensing of military job assignments.
The speculation spreaded because Army chief of staff General Sirichai Distakul, seen as close to the Pheu Thai Party, is slated to take up a lesser position as Army assistant chief.
But last week Defence Minister Sukumpol Suwanatat had made a deal with the military commanders, including Army chief General Prayuth Chanocha.
Due to the row between him and his permanent secretary General Sathien Permtongin, Sukumpol allowed Prayuth to have a complete say on lining up the Army’s top echelons.
In exchange, Prayuth and top commanders agreed to stay out of the row, backing the minister to rein in his permanent secretary and defusing a governmentmilitary confrontation.
