Airport Rail Link to be made state enterprise

The status of Airport Rail Link will be raised to that of a state enterprise to settle the illiquidity problem and business loss.
Deputy Transport Minister Chatchart Sithipan said that the State Enterprise Policy Committee’s meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittiratt NaRanong, agreed to raise the status of Airport Rail Link to a state enterprise, similar to State Railway of Thailand, by making the Finance Ministry its major stakeholder. It will be monitored by the Transport Ministry.
Airport Rail Link operates a rapid transit line in Bangkok. The line provides an airport rail link from Suvarnabhumi Airport, via Makkasan, to Phya Thai station in central Bangkok.
