Police will now file charges against unlicensed clinician Thanat “Dr Pop” Natveerakul for allegedly causing death through recklessness.
Thanat allegedly injected a chemical into the buttocks of Athitiya “Kratae” Eiamyai, 33, on September 16. She allegedly lost consciousness soon after the injection and later lapsed into coma. A few days later, Thanat turned himself in and confessed that he did not have the licence to perform the procedure.
Dr Suwinai Budsarakhamwong, director of Kluaynamthai 1 Hospital director, said respiratory aid was removed after Athitiya was declared dead at 10.40am Tuesday. She was being treated for brain inflammation at the hospital since September 18.
