Wall St ends up job data

U.S. stocks closed up overnight on better-than-expected job figures which showed 162,000 new jobs in September and an expanding service sector.

Dow Jones Industrial Average index rose 12.25 points, or 0.09 per cent to 13,494.61.

Standard & Poor's 500 index gained5.24 points, or 0.36 per cent at 1,450.99.

Nasdaq composite index added 15.19 points, or 0.49 per cent, to 3,135.23.
