He was speaking after a two-hour meeting with the opposition whips. Voting on the premier and the scrutinised ministers will be postponed from November 27 to the next morning. Each day, debating will start at 9.30am and end at midnight.
Udomdej said the government and opposition whips had discussed the schedule for the Senate’s debate on the government’s performance. It is likely to be held on November 28 after the House votes.
It is considered very unlikely that the vote will take place on November 23 and 24 as proposed by some senators, as the government would be busy during the period, Udomdej said. Moreover, Pitak Siam’s anti-government rally is scheduled for November 24, making it a bad time for the debate.
A Senate source, who asked not to be named, said some senators are unhappy with the limited time allocated to their debate. They recommended the Senate turn down the proposed schedule and skip the debate, then take legal action against the government for malfeasance.
