Foreign minister to convene meeting on ICC recognition

Foreign Minister Surapong Towichukchaikul will hold a meeting of government agencies concerned on Thursday to consider the government's plan to recognise the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Surapong said representatives of the Justice Ministry, the Council of State, the Office of the Attorney General, the Royal Thai Police and the Department of Special Investigation will be invited to attend the meeting at the Foreign Ministry at 3 pm.
The government plans to recognise the ICC jurisdiction so that the international court could try the case against the previous administration related to the deaths of 98 people who were killed during the crackdown on redshirt protesters in 2010.
